TRAVIS - Throughput Analysis and Vessel Information System

A management reporting tool to help shipping lines and shipping agents generate reports on their throughput, transhipment handled, dwell time and vessel performance. Provided as a web-enabled reporting tool, it has a 2-year detailed database and a 4-year summarised database on all the information.

Reports can be generated in a timely and hassle free manner with TRAVIS. Seamlessly integrated to PORTNET®, this ensures data integrity and saves users the time and trouble of manually sifting through raw data and re-entering data in order to generate reports.

Transhipment, Dwell Time and Performance Reports
Acquiring information on Throughput, Dwell Time and Performance is a tedious process. Information is gathered from in-house systems as well as external sources. Much time and effort is required to obtain data from external sources. The data also has to be checked and verified for accuracy. The various data required from external sources include:
- ones' own containers shipped on other vessels and/or other slot operators slots;
- data on ones' own slots being leased out to container operators;
- the number of ones' transhipment containers dwelling at the yard and
- the dwell time of ones' transhipment containers at the port.

A pre-generated report in TRAVIS is the Transhipment Report. The static reports allows the lines to view the Transhipment Analysis by Vessel Voyage and Connection Patterns of Shipped Containers by Vessel Voyage, right to the detail of the dwell time of a particular container!

Other pre-generated reports include Dwell Time and Vessel Performance. These reports enable the lines to check long stay of containers and the ability to gauge fast connection rebates, vessel rate and the crane intensity rate.

Throughput Reports
At a glance, TRAVIS presents current month to date and year to date reports on Throughput. Throughput Reports tabulate the number of containers handled. This is segmented by:
- Throughput from your Containers,
- Throughput from your Slots and
- Throughput from your Vessels.

As these reports are accessible from TRAVIS, 24 hours a day, from any personal computer, shipping lines are able to generate Management Reports and report to their principal office in a timely manner.

Customised Reports
The templates of the customised reports can be created and saved in TRAVIS for future use. Reports can be downloaded very quickly into software like Excel, where the information can be displayed graphically, printed out for further analysis or saved for future use.

With the pre-generated and customised reports, shipping lines are equipped to analyse market trends. These reports also aid in planning decisions, such as the optimum utilisation of resources and asset deployment for example to what extent their slots and vessels are being utilised and if capacity is adequate. The reports also assist managers in monitoring the performance of the company more closely and with greater accuracy for example vessel performance, whether their vessel turnaround is up to speed.
