Press Release

Singapore National Shippers’ Council and PSA Corporation Ltd Jointly Launch "Shippers’ Corner"

The Singapore National Shippers’ Council (SNSC) and PSA Corporation Ltd (PSA) today launched the Shippers’ Corner, a new e-site which hosts a suite of e-services for shippers.

Shippers’ Corner is located on the websites of both PSA Corporation (www.internationalpsa.com) and Portnet.com (www.portnet.com) - PSA’s e-commerce arm, and hyper-linked to the SNSC website (www.snsc.org.sg) . This initiative is the result of the on-going value-added partnership between SNSC and PSA, to provide better access to shipping information and services for shippers.

The Shippers’ Corner comprises 4 e-modules, and is open to all shippers free of charge :

  1. Schedule of Vessel Arrivals/Departures in Singapore, which allows shippers to know accurately the vessels calling at PSA terminals over a 3-day period.
  2. Origin/Destination Port Search, which allows shippers to search, by country or by port, a database of all shipping services calling at Singapore to source for the most suitable option that will meet their shipping needs.
  3. A set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to enable shippers to find out more about the services provided by PSA terminals.
  4. Information on TDB’s Documentation Procedures for Imports, Exports and Transhipments (provided through a hyperlink to TDB’s website) which serves as a good reference to shippers who want to find out about the procedures involved in shipping their goods.

Heralding the much welcomed new e-site for shippers, Mr David Chin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Trade Development Board, said, "TDB commends PSA and SNSC for their proactive efforts to better serve the needs of shippers in Singapore. The Shippers' Corner is a good example of customer-centric thinking. It retools shippers for the new Internet age, helping them to make quick, informed decisions to enhance trade by providing one-stop access to Web-based information anytime, anywhere."

Mr John Y. Lu, Chairman, SNSC, said, "Shippers operate in a very competitive environment, and having the right information at the right time can directly impact on a company’s bottom-line. As such, shippers need to make informed choices regarding the shipment of their goods in order to manage their logistics cost effectively. In this respect, the Shippers’ Corner is a valuable resource for shippers to shop for the best shipping services that meet their individual needs. I would like to encourage all shippers to use the Shippers’ Corner, which PSA has kindly provided free of charge."

Mr Ng Chee Keong, Deputy Group President (Terminals), PSA, said, "It is our pleasure to jointly set up the Shippers’ Corner with the SNSC. We designed the Shippers’ Corner as a one-stop depository which provides shippers with services that will enhance their operations - at their convenience and at no cost to them. We will constantly monitor the site with the aim of adding enhancements/updates that are of value to shippers."
