PSA Corporation Wins Inaugural CIO Awards 2001

PSA Corporation has been named winner of the CIO Award by CIO (ASEAN & Hong Kong) magazine in its inaugural CIO 100 rankings, which honours enterprises in the region that have effectively leveraged on IT to deliver demonstrable, strategic business value to their businesses.

In its March 2001 issue, CIO (ASEAN & Hong Kong) magazine said: "PSA Corp is our winner because it has brought a front end system that has made them very successful onto a new level. PORTNET®is the world’s first e-commerce network for an entire shipping community in a country (Singapore) when it was rolled out in 1984 and remains to be the only such network in the world."

"Leveraging the best in technology is something that PSA has always done. This is evident when you chart the evolution of PORTNET®leading up to the present, when it moved from the old world of computing to the new world of Internet-oriented computing powered in measure by Java-based applications, adding value for customers at every step and turn."

Mr Robert Yap, Executive Vice-President (Information Technology), PSA Corporation said, "We are pleased to emerge as one of the winners for the inaugural CIO Awards. PSA Corporation is committed to harnessing IT to unlock new value for our customers. Our continued investment in IT has enabled us to achieve higher productivity and service breakthroughs."
